Smith Barney Hires Morgan Stanley Team

Smith Barney, the New York-based brokerage unit of Citigroup Global Wealth Management Investments, has recruited a team of three financial advisors and one associate from Morgan Stanley. The firm hired Thomas Markey and David Sondergaard, both formerly senior vice presidents in wealth management. Mr Markey had worked for Morgan Stanley since 1991 and Mr Sondergaard since 2002. Mr Markey's team, which worked with high net worth individuals and families, included financial advisor Adam Namoury and client service associate Amy Gregorius. Their total assets under management were about $375 million, and fees and commission over the past year were about $2 million. They will work out of Smith Barney's Stamford office in Connecticut, which has about 55 financial advisors and about $4 billion in assets under management. They will report to branch manager Bradley Barber.
